Dirac’s Form of Relativistic Quantum Mechanics

  • Chapter
Theory and Applications of the Poincaré Group

Part of the book series: Fundamental Theories of Physics ((FTPH,volume 17))

Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to give a physical interpretation to the covariant harmonic oscillator formalism by incorporating Dirac’s ideas on relativistic quantum mechanics. Dirac’s form of relativistic quantum mechanics serves a very useful purpose in understanding Lorentz deformation properties of relativistic extended hadrons, such as hadrons in the quark model.
