Abstract

The verb agreement system of Choctaw, a Muskogean language of Oklahoma and Mississippi, contains a degree of complexity not encountered in verb agreement systems of many languages.1 The goal of the present study is to present an analysis of the multiple agreement patterns found in Choctaw and show how this analysis functions as part of a unified account of the clausal syntax.
