Abstract
The Mediterranean Sea is included in the Atlantic Ocean Basin. The length of this sea from the Gulf of Iskenderun (36°30′E) to the Straits of Gibraltar (5°30′W) along the 38th parallel is about 3800 km (Fig. 1). The width of the Mediterranean Sea from the Bay of Sirte in the south (30°30′N) to the Adriatic Sea near Trieste in the north is about 1800 km.
