Abstract
A 5- to 10-year follow up of 1098 cemented polyethylene acetabular cups (mean observation time 7.2 years) implanted in the period from 1973–1977 revealed an almost linear increase of cup loosening and reoperation rate with decreasing diameter and reduced wall thickness of the socket (9, see Fig.1).
