Abstract

The production of culture virus-indexed (CVI®) geraniums as performed by Phytolab, Inc. and Oglevee Associates, Inc. involves many processes developed to eliminate detectable pathogenic vascular bacteria, fungi and viruses. Once clean, these high quality selected plants are increased through a structured sanitary quality control system in order to reach the consumer. By law, to be an elite grower of CVI® geraniums in Pennsylvania, all plant material must be renewed annually from clean material, and no plants can be held in the system longer than 12 months.
