Abstract

The application of economic theory to law has undergone rapid development. The Law and Economics literature currently covers most aspects of the legal system, e.g. property, contract, tort, legal procedure, criminal law, public law and regulation.1 Most of the research has been American or British. However, the importance of the subject has become more widely recognized and today there is also a great interest in Law and Economics in continental Europe.2
