Part of the book series: World Crops: Production, Utilization, Description ((WCPU,volume 12))

Abstract

Oat crown rust, stem rust and powdery mildew are endemic in Europe but their severity varies depending on region and year. Crown rust and stem rust are more common in southern countries and powdery mildew in more humid ones, where it is considered to be the most important disease of oats. In the period 1979–1983, the highest occurrences were in the UK (Wales, Rothwell), German Democratic Republic (GDR), Poland and Yugoslavia. In Czechoslovakia the highest incidence was in 1981.
