Abstract

Aluminium Suisse S.A. reveal in Patent (12/2) an apparatus for degasifying and filtering a metal smelt, composed of a chamber with inlet and outlet apertures for the smelt and with walls for supporting at least a first and a second removable filtering element, furthermore a conduit for the feed of a gaseous fluxing agent, arranged between the first and the second filtering element. These filtering elements are made of plates, displaying an air permeability between 400 and 8000 × 10^-7 cm², porosities between 0.80 and 0.95, pore dimensions between 2 and 18 pores per cm and a thickness between 10 and 100 mm.
