Abstract
Techniques for assessing the responses of organisms to pollutants under controlled laboratory conditions were outlined in the previous chapter. These methods can provide reliable and reproducible measurements of the responses to known concentrations of toxicants or other stresses but it may sometimes prove difficult to apply the results when attempting to predict their environmental consequences.
