Abstract

Physical disturbance of the aquatic environment is considered here to include those factors which change the character of the water or the habitat or those which, when they settle, will modify the character of the substratum. But these changes only involve the physical properties of the environment and do not modify the chemical composition, for example by adding toxic quantities of heavy metals.
