Abstract
Electrocardiographic patterns are standard markers of acute myocardial infarction. In this review, we shall 1] explore the potential values of the electrocardiogram in evaluation of patients with acute myocardial infarction, 2] identify reasons why body surface isopotential mapping may be of added value, 3] summarize our applications of these mapping methods, and 4] comment upon the limitations of isopotential mapping efforts undertaken to this date. By doing so, we shall attempt to delineate the appropriate position of body surface mapping methods in the study of acute myocardial infarction.
