Abstract
In the last 10 years, we have developed a computerized system for the analysis and interpretation of Frank orthogonal electrocardiograms and vectorcardiograms (VCG). As compared with other ECG-computer programs, the main characteristics of the Louvain program are: [1]quantitative analysis of the spatial VCG in both adults and children, [2]criteria which take into account age and sex stratified normal limits of various parameters,[3] diagnostic classification by two complementary methods, i.e. deterministic (decision-tree) and statistical (multivariate). The Louvain program has been thoroughly evaluated by objective method, i.e. by comparing the automatic interpretation with the clinical diagnosis validated from ECG-independent evidence.
