Abstract

In recent years positron emission tomography (PET) has been gaining considerable significance in diagnostic nuclear medicine. The ability to perform regional dynamic functional studies make this method very attractive for noninvasive probing of physiological parameters, particularly in heart and brain. Future developments in this field therefore demand investigations of routine production routes for β+ emitting radioisotopes and, above all, extensive studies on faster and more efficient methods of labelling biomolecules with β+ emitting radionuclides. This paper deals briefly with some of the production aspects of β+ emitters.
