Abstract

One of the first applications of CT in otorhinolaryngology was examination of the paranasal sinuses. The possibilities offered by CT in detecting pathology in the soft tissues surrounding the paranasal sinuses proved to be an especially valuable adjunct in obtaining diagnostic information. In this study, we have attempted to answer the following questions:

  • In the review of the literature, what are the indications for CT-examination, and how have these changed with increased experience and improvement in technique?

  • What is the impact of CT on diagnostic understanding in a group of patients?

  • What is the influence of CT on patient management?
