Cardiac Anaesthesia: Problems and Innovations

Part of the book series: Developments in Critical Care Medicine and Anaesthesiology ((DCCA,volume 12))

Abstract

CPB is to be seen as a general stress state and therefore also a subject of a metabolic trauma to the organism. Moreover, during aortic cross clamping, a decrease of coronary perfusion and concomitant myocardial ischemia takes place.
