Abstract
The world’s search for petroleum plus defense needs in the Northern Hemisphere have intensified efforts to better define the harsh arctic environment. In particular, large ice capped areas have posed unique obstacles to under-sea investigations. For many years better ways have been sought to carry out detailed under-ice inspection and mapping. This paper describes the mechanics of one such exploratory operation.
