Subsea Installation and Intervention: How to Utilise the Potential of ROV Techniques

  • Chapter
Submersible Technology

Abstract

It has often been stated by the subsea industry that “next year” there will be a subsea boom. This has not happened to date simply because of the economical consequences for the operators derived from factors of reliability, maintenance, safety and costs. Therefore in a more cautious approach, a one-step-at-a-time method has been adopted by operators. Instead of the predicted “boom”, there has been a steady and continuous growth in application of subsea systems, first the single satellite trees and more recently template clusters. Recent studies have indicated that further growth in subsea production will be determined by economic factors.
