Synopsis

A combined use of the 2D-exchange NMR experiment with cross polarization and magic angle spinning (CP-MAS) is described. This enables us to study very slow molecular motions (1 kHz – 0.1 Hz) via natural abundance 13C NMR. Precise information about the molecular motion involved can be obtained from the characteristic two-dimensional spinning sideband patterns. This is illustrated with spectra of dimethylsulfone. Furthermore some results on polyoxymethylene are presented.
