Abstract
Chest pain is one of the commonest presenting symptoms and has a wide spectrum of significance. At one end it may be life-threatening and even rapidly fatal, at the other end a minor self-limiting nuisance. Accurate assessment and diagnosis are necessary if lives are to be saved and anxiety relieved.
