Abstract
In 1984 over 5 million inhabitants of the UK had holidays in Spain alone. Very many others visited other Mediterranean countries. Foreign holidays in search of some summer sunshine have become commonplace. ‘Have you been abroad recently?’ is a very important question but is all too often forgotten. The patient most at risk is not the holidaymaker with the telltale suntan but the businessman or engineer who has made the working trip to exotic parts.
