Abstract
Given the assumptions concerning the individual preferences over alternatives, the task of social choice theory is to investigate the features of various methods used in aggregating these preferences into collective decisions. These are usually interpreted as collective preferences, although as will be seen shortly there are some problems involved in this interpretation.
