Abstract
“Life is a cognitive process”, says Konrad Lorenz, one of the founders of EE. And “from the amoeba to Einstein, the growth of knowledge is always the same”, claims Karl Popper, another representative of EE. Judging from those and many similar remarks, Lorenz and Popper seem to talk about the same thing. In fact, they have taken many opportunities to stress the convergence of their views on the evolution of knowledge (e.g. Popper & Lorenz, 1985; Lorenz & Kreuzer, 1981).
