Abstract
Cable in the form of collective antennae reaches over 60% of Luxembourg households. Precise figures are not available, since this is entirely in the hands of private companies that operate “networks” anywhere from 3000 to over 20000 subscrivers. The PTT, which make only shure that certain minimal technical standards are respected (the operating licence depends on the fulfillment of these criteria), have no real overview about the spread nor about real connection figures to the existing collective antennae systems. Since the densily populated areas of the country are at present connected almost up to 80% to CATV and that the areas not yet cabled are low-density rural sections of the country, it is not to be expected that cable will grow beyond its present quantitative penetration.
