Abstract
This is a progress report on a survey for OH/IR stars close to the galactic centre (GC) using the Very Large Array (VLA) of National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO)1 in New Mexico, USA. The observations have been carried out and the data reduction is now under way at Onsala Space Observatory, Sweden. The 3-σ sensitivity is about 30 mJy and the survey is expected to yield a total number of about 200 OH/IR stars. The main goal is to determine the mass density distribution around the GC.
