Abstract
Spacetime geometry, as the new playground of physics, stems from Poincaré’s seminal remarks (1906b) expanded in Minkowski’s famous articles (1907; 1908a, b). Another source is an elegant paper by Hargreaves (1908) where, however, the concept of the spacetime metric is not found.
