Abstract

In this paper analytical model for evaluating the overall plant efficiency of H2-O2 powered portable and steam-bottomed MHD generators has been discussed. Composition, temperature and electrical conductivity of the seeded combustion products of H2-O2 system have been evaluated at various pressures. The dependence of electrical conductivity on the pressure and temperature has been expressed in the form of a power law for designing the MHD duct. In order to obtain maximum overall plant efficiency, the effect of duct inlet velocity, duct length and combustor pressure on the plant performance has been studied.
