Abstract

The heating of plasma to high temperatures, the high-velocity plasma ejection, and the acceleration of non-thermal particles are the most outstanding phenomena of solar activity which appear mainly in the course of solar flares. So, in this paper we are interested primarily in solar flares and flarelike phenomena. However, to have a guide to the interpretation of these phenomena it would be useful to say a few words about solar activity as a whole.
