Abstract

The countries of the European Economic Community (EEC) have a common agricultural policy but not a common forest policy. There has, however, been some convergence in their respective forest policies over the last 40 years, given that they started the period from rather different situations in the immediate years after the Second World War.

The most recent members of the EEC (Greece, Portugal and Spain) are not included in this section but in Southern Europe, in order to retain conformity with European Timber Trends and Prospects to the Year 2000 and Beyond and previous long-term studies.
