Abstract
Since science is intrinsically related to the regime, it enjoys an unparalleled position in the Soviet Union. Not only is it the instrument for social development and fulfillment; it is also the bedrock, point of reference and logical conclusion of Marxist-Leninist ideology, Lenin’s “scientifically-based doctrine,” from which the regime claims to derive its legitimacy.
