Abstract

Because of the extremely high sensitivities possible with interfermetric fiber sensors many laboratories have conducted research on these devices. Substantial progress has been realized, and interferometric sensors are in use in laboratory instrumentation and are undergoing field trials to determine their reliability and performance under uncontrolled conditions.(1,2)
