Abstract
Retention of nonmetallic impurities, such as fragments of refractory lining, sand particles or slag droplets can be obtained, either in reducing the velocities of the alloy in movement by a local increase in cross-sections of the gating systems, but the field of application is limited for essentially economic reasons, or by centripetal acceleration producing a rotary movement of the metal stream which must have a sufficiently high velocity to give good results.
