Abstract

Besides the moderator there were 4lecturers who had been invited to make short presentations: C K Chou, J W Hand, J Bach Andersen and J W Hunt. In addition, 3 paiticipants also made prepared remarks: K Ettinger, C Tiberio and J Vrba. To start the session and to prompt discussion, the moderator suggested a set of physical specifications desirable in a good hyperthermia system. For power deposition the following specifications were suggested:

  1. 1.

The system should be able to control the SAR independently over adjacent 8 cm3 tissue volumes.

  2. 2.

The variation on SAR over adjacent volumes should be on the order of 5 : 1.
