Surface Engineering With Lasers

  • Chapter
Applied Laser Tooling

Abstract

The laser produces a near monochromatic electromagnetic radiation beam usually with a very low divergence angle allowing it to be focused to near theoretical diffraction limited spot sizes. This pure optical energy which is easily focused represents one of the chemically cleanest forms of high energy density available to industry today.
