Abstract
The lipid component of higher plant thylakoid membranes is composed predominantly of the uncharged glycol ipids monogalactosyldiacyl glycerol (MGDG) and di g al actosyldiacyl glycerol (DGDG). The charged lipids sulphoquinovosyldiacyl glycerol (SQDG), phosphatidyl glycerol (PG), and phosphatidylethanolamine, (PE) as well as an uncharged phospholipid, phosphatidylcholine (PC), together comprise no more than 20–25 mol% of the total polar lipid.
