Abstract
The conductivity σ of the “free electron” metallic glasses MgxZn100-x (x=67, 72 and 77) has been measured as a function of the magnetic field (0≦B≦6 Tesla) in the temperature range between 1.5 and 80 K. The conductivity increases with B for low temperatures and small fields. At large B and T it decreases with B. Above 7 K σ(B,T)-σ(B=0,T) is in quantitative agreement with perturbative corrections due to quantum interference in the presence of spin orbit scattering. We deduce spin orbit fields of 0.1, 0.08 and 0.06 Tesla for x=67, 72 and 77, respectively.
