Abstract
This paper discusses the potential that fault tolerant computer based systems have to hide hardware faults (hence making them ‘lslatent faults’). The potential for redundant computers to mislead their associated computers as to the state of data or their health is discussed and mechanisms for eliminating this problem are outlined.
