Mechanisms of the Antioxidant Action of Nitroxyl Radicals

  • Chapter
Developments in Polymer Stabilisation—8

Summary

The mechanisms and kinetics of the inhibiting action of nitroxyl radicals in the processes of organic compound oxidation are reviewed. Kinetic parameters characterizing the efficiency of nitroxyl radicals as inhibitors are given and data on the coefficients of inhibition and regeneration of nitroxyl radicals are also presented. The possibility of nitroxyls taking part in chain initiation reactions is considered and criteria for using nitroxyl radicals to control the selectivity of oxidation processes are described.
