Abstract
CAD is one of the most exciting fields of research in a discipline which has come to be known as cognitive engineering. It lies at an overlap point between psychology and mathematics, AI and engineering, where the theoretical and the arcane come to have practical applications. This book has described its application to the problems of electronics design, but CAAD (computer-aided architectural design), CAE (computer-aided engineering) and CAM (computer-aided manufacture) are all fast growing application areas. The advances that can be made in the forcing house of industrial applications may well contribute to our general knowledge about how to use and design computers with AI.
