Abstract
A CAD system should live up to its name: it should help the designer in every way possible, not put obstacles in his way. Since it is necessary to use computer aids in settings where projects are large and complex, it is safe to assume that more than one designer will be employed on any one project. Therefore the CAD system has not only to provide help in performing specific tasks, but must also provide a good communications link between designers doing different sorts of tasks. The human-computer interface in this case must be reconstrued as a many-to-many relationship, rather than as one person dealing with one machine.
