Abstract
Radiopharmacy and Radiation Hygiene may interact in many ways. Handling of radioactivity in the daily practice of radiopharmacy may have an effect on the radiation dose received by the personel. It is therefore of great importance that the radiopharmacy staff have a thorougly understanding of radiation protection problems in order to keep such doses as low as possible. The use of radiopharmaceuticals for therapy and particularly the use of labelled antibodies, that may have to be radioactive labelled just before administration to the patient, stresses this problem. The way radioactivity is handled and disposed of may have implications for the environment. Waste disposal routine must therefore be well organised. The radiopharmacy should take the responsibility to make sure that up to date disposal technique is used. A theorethical problem is the Tc99 that nuclear medicine is spreading to the environment.
