Aspects of Normal and Abnormal Development of the Main Coronary Arteries

  • Chapter
Book cover Coronary Circulation

Abstract

Knowledge of the normal development of the main coronary arteries in man is still incomplete. This implies that abnormal development can only be discussed at a mainly theoretical level. In the present chapter data on normal development of the coronary arteries will be presented from our own studies and literature data concerning investigations of both human and animal material. Thereafter nomenclature and classification followed by data on abnormal coronary arterial development will be discussed. This latter information will mainly be based on casuistic data from teratology.
