Abstract
The 5-substituted 2′-deoxyuridines (E)-5-(2-bromovinyl)-dUrd (BVDU) and (E)-5-(2-iodovinyl)-dUrd (IVDU) are highly potent and selective inhibitors of the replication of herpesviruses, i.e. herpes simplex virus (HSV).
