Changes of Cerebral Glucose Metabolism in Movement Disorders

  • Chapter
Clinical efficacy of positron emission tomography

Part of the book series: Developments in Nuclear Medicine ((DNUM,volume 12))

Abstract

This is a short summary of the literature on local cerebral glucose metabolism in movement disorders as studied with PET and the 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose technique. For a comprehensive review of PET findings in movement disorders, including changes in flow, oxygen and glucose metabolism, as well as neurotransmitter changes, the reader is referred to a recently published monograph (Leenders, 1986).
