Abstract
In the Explanatory Memorandum accompanying the Government Budget 1983 the Minister of Welfare, Health and Culture stated that it was his intention to intensify and restructure research as to long-term developments in the sector of health care. In the framework of the implementation of this policy, the Secretary of State for Welfare, Health and Culture, J.P. van der Reijden, on the 9th of March 1983 installed the Steering Committee on Future Health Scenarios. The task of the Steering Committee is to advise the Minister and Secretary of State on the future of health and health care in the long-term in the Netherlands, with a view to enlarging the anticipatory capacity of policy.
