Abstract

Under normal conditions, the hepato-splanchnic circulation receives a large portion of the cardiac output (about 25%), contains a substantial fraction of the blood volume (about 20%) and provides a major share of the total body lymph flow and transvascular protein flux [1]. Therefore, hypertension-induced changes in the vasculature of this region can play a significant role in systemic hemodynamics.
