Abstract
The problems of erection and ejaculation in the male partner clearly have no direct analogy in the female partner. Sexual desire, and sexual arousal, and orgasm are the three elements in which difficulties and dysfunction may be seen. Considering the research and investigations that have gone on for so many years into male problems, it is not surprising that the information, studies and understanding of female problems has lagged so far behind - at least until the coming of women’s liberation movements and the strive for sexual equality in personal relationships and within the marriage setting. Even so, the development of birth control, of family planning clinics and of antenatal and postnatal care, inevitably and often starkly highlighted many areas of sexual difficulty in women attending for such contraception. They also indirectly threw into perspective many of the male problems as well.
