Abstract
Decentralization presupposes the existence of a centre. This can be international, global or regional, or placed on the level of institutions, general practice or clinical departments. Clinical testing covers a number of specialities such as clinical physiology, clinical microbiology, clinical pathology, clinical imaging etc. In the present context clinical chemistry or clinical laboratory medicine is in focus.
