Abstract

The aquaculture of salmon holds with it the potential of changing output independently of the natural and other constraints of the wild salmon resource, of controlling the output quality and timing, and of defining a different pattern of cost structure for the product. It is the purpose of this chapter to demonstrate the way in which aquaculture alters the production characteristics for salmon, to define the constraints present and to present a description of the economics of production.
