Clarification of some Problems of Anionic Polymerization

Recent Advances in Anionic Polymerization

Abstract

Ionic, and especially anionic polymerization is of great interest to polymer chemists as evident by this second International Symposium on Anionic Polymerization. Vigorous studies of anionic polymerization started in the late fifties, and progress in this field has been reported in numerous reviews published during the last 20 years [1], The published results are, on the whole, mutually consistent and accounted for by plausible mechanisms accepted by the workers in this field. There are, nevertheless, some contradictory claims pertaining mainly to polymerizations involving Li counter-ions and proceeding in hydrocarbon solvents.
