Abstract
This book chronicles our efforts to grapple with ways of introducing uncertainty into economic theory, and then dealing directly with that uncertainty. Most previous attempts to deal with uncertainty have been designed to finesse the problem. Uncertainty is put into the problem, and an assumption is then made that allows the problem to be turned into one of certainty. Economists in particular have shown a talent for bringing every problem back to a world of certainty where all solutions are known or can be easily found.
